Jordin Sparks Steps Into In the Heights

American Idol winner and recording artist Jordin Sparks begins performances as Nina in the Broadway production of In the Heights. The show also welcomes Kyle Beltran as Usnavi, replacing High School Musical star Corbin Bleu.

Sparks was best known as being the youngest competitor ever to winAmerican Idol. She has since become a platinum-selling recording artist with hit singles including “One Step at a Time,” “Tattoo” and “No Air,” her duet with Chris Brown. Her sophomore album release,Battlefield, was recently released on Jive Records. In addition to appearing on the small screen on shows like So You Think You Can Dance and America’s Got Talent, she has also been seen on The Paul O’Grady Show and The Suite Life on Deck. 

Beltran joins the Broadway cast of In the Heights straight from the first national tour of the production. Off-Broadway includes 10 Things to Do Before I Die, as well as regional work in Kingdom and Aida.
