Mark-Paul Gosselaar, who made his off-Broadway debut in Roundabout Theatre Company's The Understudy earlier this season, has found himself a hazy new home on the hit Showtime series Weeds. The actor will reportedly guest star as a bartender who ends up entwined with drug-dealing leading lady (and fellow Roundabout Theatre Company alum) Mary-Louise Parker (Hedda Gabler). The sixth season of Weeds premieres August 16.
The guest spot reunites Gosselaar with two of his The Understudy collaborators: Co-star and longtime stage veteran Justin Kirk, who plays Parker's stoner brother-in-law, and director Scott Ellis, a helmer on the series. The show also features former Spring Awakening heartthrob Hunter Parrish.
Gosselaar memorably created the role of Zach Morris on the 1990s teen television series Saved by the Bell. Additional credits from his long television career include Murphy Brown, The Wonder Years, Punky Brewster, John From Cincinnati, Robot Chicken, Commander in Chief, NYPD Blue and Raising the Bar.
