Fran Kranz and Katherine Waterston will join the previously announced Tony nominee Celia Keenan-Bolger and Eddie Kaye Thomas in the cast of Leslye Headland’s Bachelorette, the second offering in Second Stage Theatre’s annual Uptown Series. Kranz and Waterston will replace Aya Cash and Tate Ellington who had to leave the production due to scheduling conflicts. The play, directed by Trip Cullman, will begin previews at the McGinn/Cazale Theatre on July 12 and open on July 26 as scheduled.
Kranz's stage credits include The Legend of Alex and Angels in America. Waterston appeared in Playwright Horizon's Kindness as well as the film Taking Woodstock.
Bachelorette is described as a brutally comic look at friendship and betrayal on the way to the altar. On the eve of her wedding, Becky has arranged the perfect bachelorette celebration—but after two party crashers, one manipulative maid of honor and a bathtub of booze, things don’t go according to plan.
Second Stage created its Uptown Series to help develop and provide exposure for the voices of a new generation of theater artists. This season’s first offering was the New York premiere of Michael Golamco’s Year Zero, directed by Will Frears.
