Sondheim on Sondheim Cast Recording Set for August 31 Release

The previously announced original Broadway cast recording of Sondheim on Sondheim will hit stores for purchase beginning August 31, 2010, producers have announced. The album, released by by PS classics, commemorates the new musical revue, which ends its limited run at Studio 54 on June 27. Sondheim on Sondheim’s two disc set, currently available for pre-order, will also be available for digital download online.

A semi-biographical revue of the life and work of Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize winning lyricist and composer Stephen Sondheim, Sondheim on Sondheim stars Tony Award winner Barbara Cook, as well as Vanessa Williams, Tom Wopat, Euan Mortan, Norm Lewis, Leslie Kritzer, Erin Mackey and Matthew Scott. The cast recording is produced by PS Classics co-founder Tommy Krasker, whose numerous credits include the recent revival of A Little Night Music and nearly two dozen other Sondheim-related releases.

Sondheim on Sondheim features music from nearly two dozen of Sondheim productions, including A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Company, Follies, Sweeney Todd, Merrily We Roll Along, Sunday in the Park with George and Assassins.
