Audiences at the June 23 performance of Million Dollar Quartet received a huge surprise when Grammy winner Melissa Etheridge (known for hits such as “Come To My Window” and “I’m The Only One”) showed up onstage at the Nederlander Theatre. During the show’s rocking finale Etheridge partook in an impromptu jam session with her rock ‘n roll heroes Carl Perkins (Robert Britton Lyons), Johnny Cash (Lance Guest), Jerry Lee Lewis (Levi Kreis) and Elvis Presley (Eddie Clendening). Etheridge is the first notable performer to rock out with the Quartet on Broadway, a tradition that started during the show’s Chicago run, and it hopes to continue on Broadway.
