A starry cast including Campbell Scott as the Stage Manager has signed on for Nicholas Martin’s forthcoming production of Our Town at Williamstown Theatre Festival. Thornton Wilder’s classic tale of life in Grover’s Corners, New Hampshire, will be presented on the Massachusetts summer theater's Main Stage from July 28 through August 8.
A cast of Williamstown regulars will join Martin for his final directing turn as the Festival’s artistic director. In addition to Scott, the cast features Dylan Baker (God of Carnage) and Tony nominee Jessica Hecht (A View from the Bridge) as Mr. and Mrs. Webb, Becky Ann Baker (All My Sons) and Tony winner John Rubinstein (Children of a Lesser God) as Doc and Mrs. Gibbs, Brie Larson (TV’s United States of Tara) as Emily Webb, Will Rogers (From Up Here) as George Gibbs, Kevin Cahoon (The Wedding Singer) as Joe Stoddard, Nancy E. Carroll (Present Laughter) as Mrs. Soames, Bryce Pinkham (Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson) as Sam Craig, Graham Rowat (Guys and Dolls) as Constable Warren and Jon Patrick Walker (High Fidelity) as Simon Stimson.
Our Town will feature scenic design by David Korins, costume design by Gabriel Berry, lighting design by Kenneth Posner, and sound design by Drew Levy. Michael Friedman (Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson) composed the music for this production.
Also on the Main Stage, Terry Kinney will direct Lanford Wilson’s Fifth of July, running from July 28 through August 8. The cast includes David Wilson Barnes (Becky Shaw), Danny Deferrari (The Confidence Man), Kally Duling (Back in Pictures), Tony winner Elizabeth Franz (Death of a Salesman), Shane McRae (Take Me Out), Anson Mount (Crossroads), Jennifer Mudge (The Philanthropist) and Kellie Overbey (The Coast of Utopia).
In this gentle comedy/drama, a group of thirty-something prodigals from the rebellious post-Vietnam generation return to their rural Missouri home to remember a lost loved one, finding themselves older and wiser, yet still searching.
Fifth of July includes scenic design by David Gallo, costume design by Sarah J. Holden, lighting design by David Weiner, and sound design by Obadiah Eaves.
On the Nikos Stage, Carolyn Cantor will direct the world premiere of Amy Herzog’s After the Revolution, running July 21-August 1. The cast includes Mark Blum (Twelve Angry Men), Peter Friedman (Circle Mirror Transformation), David Margulies (TV’s The Sopranos), Katharine Powell (The Farnsworth Invention), Lois Smith (TV’s True Blood), Elliot Villar (Coraline), and Mare Winningham (TV’s Grey’s Anatomy).
The new play centers on three generations of a radical leftist family who meet in New York to celebrate the law school graduation of Emma, the family’s youngest torchbearer. A public revelation about her late grandfather, a victim of the blacklist, sends Emma reeling as the family begins to fracture.
