Law & Order star Linus Roache and Heather Burns will star in the world premiere of Will Eno’s Middletown at the Vineyard Theatre. Previews begin on October 6, directed by Ken Rus Schmoll. No opening date has been set, and additional cast members and a design team will be announced at a later date.
Middletown is described as a moving and funny new play exploring the universe of a small American town. As a friendship develops between longtime resident John Dodge (Roache) and new arrival Mary Swanson (Burns), the lives of the inhabitants of Middletown intersect in strange and poignant ways in a journey that takes them from the local library to outer space and points between.
Known for his role as Assistant D.A. Michael Cutler in Law & Order, Roache is a former member of the Royal Shakespeare Company and appeared in Coriolanus and Richard II opposite Ralph Fiennes at BAM. He received a Golden Globe nomination for playing Robert Kennedy in the TV film RFK and has appeared on TV in HBO’s The Gathering Storm and Kidnapped. Film credits include Batman Begins.
Burns has appeared off-Broadway in Fran’s Bed, Lobby Hero, Writers Block and The Marriage of Bette and Boo and in the West End production of This Is Our Youth. She can currently be seen in the HBO comedy series Bored to Death and has appeared in films such as Miss Congeniality, Two Weeks Notice and You’ve Got Mail.
