It’s a swinging July on Broadway with the arrival of star crooner Harry Connick Jr., who begins a series of 13 concerts at the Neil Simon Theatre on July 15. Connick is no stranger to the Great White Way—in fact, he’s a two-time Tony nominee for his performance as Sid in The Pajama Game and for composing Thou Shalt Not. In honor of the multitalented Connick’s latest Broadway appearance, resident artist Justin ‘Squigs’ Robertson offers a portrait of the star at his piano, with the marquees of 52nd Street in the background. Catch Harry Connick Jr. in Concert on Broadway until July 29.
About the Artist: With a desire to celebrate the magic of live theater and those who create it, and with a deep reverence for such touchstones as the work of Al Hirschfeld and the wall at Sardi’s, Squigs is happy and grateful to be among those carrying on the traditions where theater and caricature meet. He was born and raised in Oregon, lived in Los Angeles for quite a long time and now calls New York City his home. Photo by Matthew Murphy
