Broadway grosses rose for the second week in a row as the summer tourist season got into full swing. Family-friendly shows were the big winners, with Mary Poppins joining The Lion King on the frontrunners’ list (both grossed over $1 million) and oldie but goodie The Phantom of the Opera rising to $937,474 for the week. Harry Connick Jr. raked in an impressive $757,620 for his first four concerts, joining the frontrunners’ list for capacity during his two-week stint at the Neil Simon Theatre.
