Wallace Smith Marches Into American Idiot

Wallace Smith will begin performances as American Idiot's "Favorite Son" on July 20 at the St. James Theatre. Smith will replace Joshua Henry, who has left the production to star in the upcoming Broadway transfer of The Scottsboro Boys.

Smith appeared on Broadway recently in the revivals of Hair (as Hud) and Ragtime, as well as in The Lion King.

American Idiot currently stars John Gallagher, Jr. as Johnny, Michael Esper as Will, Stark Sands as Tunny, Rebecca Naomi Jones as Whatshername, Christina Sajous as The Extraordinary Girl, Mary Faber as Heather and Tony Vincent as St. Jimmy. Based on the popular Green Day album of the same name, the musical opened on April 20 at the St. James Theatre and took home two Tony Awards in June.
