Neil Patrick Harris has signed on to co-produce a London version of the interactive theater piece Accomplice. Harris will join with writer/director Tom Salamon and Chocolate Factory productions to present the European premiere of the show beginning September 4 on the city streets. Press performances will be held September 16-19.
Described as part game, part theater and part tour, Accomplice takes audiences on a three-hour, mile-long walking discovery of theater and mystery. Armed with basic information and aided by clues and cast members at various locations en route, each group of 10 participants is sent on a mission on the streets of SE1 to piece together a meticulously crafted plot. Performances take place on Saturdays and Sundays every half hour from 1:00 to 4:30PM.
Salamon is the creator, writer, and director of Accomplice productions in New York City and Hollywood. Accomplice: New York, created and co-produced with Betsy Sufott, and began its run in April 2005. Accomplice: The Village debuted in January 2007. In 2009, the team joined forces with Harris (who had sparked ticket sales by praising the show on Live with Regis and Kelly) for a west coast production, Accomplice: Hollywood. Salamon is currently collaborating with the American Museum of Natural History in NYC on a new Accomplice production.
Best known for his Emmy-nominated starring role in How I Met Your Mother, Harris made his directorial debut with The Expert at the Card Table at London’s Menier Chocolate Factory and starred in the theater's production of Jonathan Larson’s Tick, Tick...Boom. He has appeared on Broadway in Assassins, Cabaret and Proof and in the Geffen Playhouse production of All My Sons. He is currently directing Rent at the Hollywood Bowl.
Also on tap at the Menier Chocolate Factory this fall is a revival of Caryl Churchill’s A Number starring father and son actors Samuel and Timothy West. The play will begin previews on September 29 and open on October 4, directed by Jonathan Munby. Completing the fall season will be The Invisible Man, Ken Talbot’s tongue-in-cheek music hall adaptation of H.G. Wells’ classic novel. The show will preview beginning November 12 and open on November 24, playing through February 12, 2011, directed by Ian Talbot.
