Sure, we’ve seen him naked, but that doesn’t mean Daniel Radcliffe doesn’t have more to reveal. The 21-year-old actor, who is set to return to Broadway in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying in February 2011, is refreshingly honest and articulate, and his interview in this month’s Out magazine with trans musician Our Lady J does not disappoint.
Radcliffe, of course, is famous for playing Harry Potter (the final movie in the popular franchise, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II, has finished filming and will be released next summer). Although he is most closely associated with that role, Radcliffe has ventured into new territory in the last few years, most notably by starring as Alan Strang in Equus in the West End and on Broadway. His performance as a troubled stable boy in the dark play earned him acclaim and two Broadway.com Audience Awards (for Favorite Leading Actor in a Broadway Play and Favorite Breakthrough Performance).
In the Out interview, Radcliffe gushes about how much the theater community means to him: “It’s very, very hard to actually describe why New York is so brilliant. But the community is amazing, and if you get involved with all those events, and you show how much you love and appreciate being there, you really get nothing but generosity and kindness back.”
The young star also shares how he is preparing for Broadway (singing and dancing lessons!), his admiration for Promises, Promises star Sean Hayes, his gay activism, political views and (drum roll) how his dating life is going. Oh, Daniel! P.S. Does that cover ooze wow factor or what? Read more here.
