Todrick Hall, a semi-finalist on this year's Season 9 of American Idol has returned to the Broadway stage, joining the ensemble of the Tony-winning hit musical Memphis. He made his debut in the show on August 17, on the same night High School Musical sweethearts Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens paid a backstage visit.
Hall was previously seen on Broadway in The Color Purple, alongside American Idol winner Fantasia Barrino. In addition to his acting, Hall is a playwright, director and choreographer. He most recently wrote and staged OZ, the musical, an updated version of The Wizard of Oz that played around the country and has starred American Idol veterans Diana DeGarmo, Mikalah Gordon and Vonzell Solomon. In addition to The Color Purple (in which Hall appeared in the ensemble and was an understudy for the role of Harpo), he appeared in The Radio City Music Hall Christmas Spectacular.
Memphis, the winner of the 2010 Tony Award for Best Musical, continues to star Tony nominees Chad Kimball and Montego Glover as Huey Calhoun and Felicia Ferrell, Derrick Baskin as Gator, J. Bernard Calloway as Delray Jones, James Monroe Iglehart as Bobby, Michael McGrath as Mr. Simmons and Cass Morgan as Gladys Calhoun.
