Emmy Award nominee Georgia Engel and Daytime Emmy winner Michael Park have joined the cast of the Vineyard Theatre’s world premiere production of Middletown, written by Will Eno. Directed by Ken Rus Schmoll, the show beings previews on October 13 with opening night set for November 3.
The pair join previously announced stars Linus Roache and Heather Burns in a play that explores the small universe of one American town. As a friendship develops between longtime resident John Dodge (Roache) and new arrival Mary Swanson (Burns), the lives of the inhabitants of Middletown intersect in strange and poignant ways in a journey that takes them from the local library to outer space and points between.
Engel is best known for years on the hit TV series The Mary Tyler Moore Show. Her Broadway credits include The Drowsy Chaperone, My One and Only and Hello, Dolly!. She has also appeared in both Nunsense: The 20th Anniversery Tour and Nunsense Jamboree. In addition to The Mary Tyler Moore Show, Engel has been seen on Coach and Everybody Loves Raymond.
An Emmy winner for As The World Turns, Park is a Broadway veteran of shows such as Carousel, Smokey Joe’s Café and Little Me. He was recently seen off-Broadway in The Burnt Part Boys. Additional off-Broadway credits include Milk and Honey, Violet and Bloomer Girl.
