Emily Bergl will get some starry help from Broadway vets Michael Cerveris and Anthony Rapp when the actress performs her cabaret show, Kidding on the Square, at the Metropolitan Room August 26-30. Bergl will be accompanied by pianist G. Scott Lacy with Cerveris appearing on August 28 and Rapp joining her on August 31. She will also welcome recording artist Angelo D'Agastino on August 30. The performances will feature classics from Fats Waller and Cole Porter as well as hits from the likes of the Scissor Sisters and Madonna.
Bergl has appeared on Broadway in A Touch of the Poet, The Rivals, The Lion in Winter, and Ah! Wilderness. Her off-Broadway work includes Becky Shaw, Some Americans Abroad, Fiction, Where Do We Live? and Old Money. Her many TV credits include Desperate Housewives, Men in Trees, Gilmore Girls, Southland and The Good Wife.
Cerveris was last seen on Broadway in In The Next Room or the Vibrator Play. He is a Tony winner for Assassins and has also appeared in Sweeney Todd, Lovemusik, Hedda Gabler, Cymbeline, Titanic and The Who's Tommy.
Rapp is best known for creating the role of Mark in Rent. His other Broadway credits include You're a Good Man Charlie Brown, Six Degrees of Separation and Precious Sons. He has adapted his memoir, Without You, for the stage at the upcoming New York Musical Festival Theatre.
