Casting is complete for the Public Theater's Broadway transfer of Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson, with Kristine Nielsen joining the show as Storyteller and Cameron Ocasio as Jackson's adopted son, Lyncoya. With original star Benjamin Walker reprising the title role, Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson will begin performances at the Bernard Jacobs Theatre on September 20 ahead of an October 13 opening.
Nielsen's many Broadway credits include To Be or Not To Be, Spring Awakening, Les Liaisons Dangereuses, A Streetcar Named Desire, The Greenbird, Jackie: An American Life and The Iceman Cometh. Off-Broadway credits include Why Torture is Wrong, Love, Loss and What I Wore, Crazy Mary, Die Mommie Die!, Based on a Totally True Story, Miss Witherspoon and Dog Opera.
Jackson will mark Ocasio's Brodaway debut. He has appeared on TV shows such as Saturday Night Live, Gossip Girl, Human Giant and Sesame Street.
An exaggerated account of the nation's seventh president, Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson features a score by Michael Friedman and a book by Alex Timbers, who is also directing.
