Some old friends will be a part of Pee-wee's Playhouse when The Pee-wee Herman Show hits Broadway's Stephen Sondheim Theatre beginning October 26. Additional casting has been announced for the limited engagement, which stars Paul Reubens as the well-known title character. The show will feature three cast members from Pee-wee's original 1981 run in Los Angeles: John Moody as Mailman Mike, John Paragon as Jambi the Genie and Lynne Marie Stewart (who also appeared on Pee-wee's hit TV series) as Miss Yvonne. The cast will also feature Jesse Garcia as Sergio the Handyman, Phil LaMarr as Cowboy Curtis and Josh Meyers, Drew Powell and Lance Roberts as company members.
Moody is a longtime member of the Groundlings comedy troupe (where the Pee-wee character originated) and has appeared on TV's The Golden Girls. Paragon served as a writer for TV's Pee-wee's Playhouse and has appeared on shows such as Cheers and Seinfeld. Stewart's TV and film credits include Sons of Anarchy, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, American Graffiti and Pee-wee's Big Adventure.Garcia has appeared in films such as Quinceanera, La Misma Luna and Good Dick. LaMarr's many TV and film credits include Curb Your Enthusiasm, Pulp Fiction, Step Brothers and Castle. Meyers is best known from TV's That 70's Show and MADtv. Powell's theater credits include Skirts and Flirts, Bedtime Stories and Greater Tuna. Roberts has appeared onstage in Cats, Ain't Misbehavin' and Once on This Island.
Written by Reubens and Bill Steinkellner, with additional material by Paragon, the new stage production is a “re-imagined” version of Reubens' past theatrical outings as the character.
