Grease to Close in London; Matthew Goodgame Joins Cast

The West End revival of Grease will play its final performance on April 30, 2011 at the Piccadilly Theatre before embarking on a national tour. The tour will launch on May 6 at the Edinburgh Playhouse, with Matthew Goodgame starring as Danny. Goodgame will join the West End company on September 27 prior to headlining the tour, while Lauren Samuels continues in the role of Sandy. Jamie Capewell and Giovanni Spano will also join the cast on September 27 as Kenickie and Doody, respectively.

Goodman has appeared on TV's Musicality and in Chicago. Grease marks Samuels' West End debut after appearing as a finalist on reality TV casting show Over the Rainbow.

The Grease revival opened at the Piccadilly Theatre on August 8, 2007 and became the venue's longest-running show in June 2009 after 800 performances. This production of the classic Jim Jacobs/Warren Casey musical about high school lovers in 1950s America is directed by David Gilmore.
