Academy Award winner Gwyneth Paltrow may join the ranks of McKinley High's faculty in upcoming episodes of Glee, according to E! Online. Paltrow is in talks to play a substitute teacher who fills in for Mr. Schuester (Matthew Morrison) during a sick leave. The students then become a big fan of her character, as does Mr. Schuester, which complicates his continued romantic relations with guidance counsler Emma Pillsbury (Jayma Mays).
Paltrow would appear in two episodes in November, with show creator Ryan Murphy directing the first of the pair. Paltrow appeared in Murphy's feature film directorial debut, Running With Scissors. The actress is no stranger to carrying a tune, having performed in the 2000 film Duets and in the forthcoming Country Strong as a country singer. Her many other film credits include Shakespeare in Love, Iron Man, The Talented Mr. Ripley and The Royal Tenenbaums.
The second season of Glee begins September 21 on Fox. Other guest stars scheduled to appear include Britney Spears, Kristin Chenoweth, Cheyenne Jackson and Javier Bardem.
