Hippies, rejoice! Casting has been announced for the national tour of Tony-winning revival of Hair, and many members of the Broadway Tribe are set to hit the road. Steel Burkhardt and Paris Remillard have been promoted to the central roles of Berger and Claude, with Darius Nichols and Kacie Sheik reprising their performances as Hud and Jeanie.
Other Broadway vets set to tour with the show include Matt DeAngelis as Woof, Kaitlin Kiyan as Crissy, plus Nicholas Belton, Larkin Bogan, Allison Guinn, Josh Lamon, John Moauro, Kate Rockwell, Cailan Rose, Jen Sese, Lawrence Stallings and Lee Zarrett. Phyre Hawkins joins the cast as Dionne along with Caren Lyn Tackett as Sheila. (Tackett originated her in the original Central Park production when she was known as Carel Lyn Manuel.)
The cast will also feature newcomers Shaleah Adkisson, Emily Afton, Corey Bradley, Marshal Kennedy Carolan, Laura Dreyfuss, Mike Evariste, Lulu Fall, Tripp Fountain, Nkrumah Gatling, Christine Nolan, Emmy Raver-Lampman and Tanesha Ross.
Hair kicks off its tour at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC on October 26, after a four-day preview engagement in New Haven, CT. As previously announced, cities in the first year of the tour include Seattle; Tempe; Portland, OR; Los Angeles, Costa Mesa, CA; Pittsburgh, Milwaukee, Minneapolis, Boston, Hartford, Schenectady, NY; Durham, NC; Atlanta; Tampa; Miami; Ft. Lauderdale and Orlando.
The story of a group of young Americans searching for love and peace during the Vietnam era, Hair features book and lyrics by Gerome Ragni and James Rado and music by Galt McDermot. Featured in the show are such classic hits as “Aquarius,” “Easy to Be Hard,” “Good Morning Starshine,” “Let the Sun Shine In” and the title song.
