Glee star and Broadway veteran Lea Michele will record a version of Rodgers and Hammerstein's "My Favorite Things" for a new 45th anniversary addition to The Sound of Music film soundtrack. The album will be available November 2 alongside a Blu-Ray DVD edition of the Oscar-winning film.
Michele received an Emmy nominee earlier this year for Glee. Her Broadway credits include Ragtime and Spring Awakening. To further commorate the film's landmark anniversary, the original cast will reunite on an upcoming episode of The Oprah Winfrey Show. The Sound of Music first opened on Broadway on November 16, 1959, starring Mary Martin and Theodore Bikel. The show ran for 1,443 performances. The Robert Wise-directed film adaptation was originally released on March 2, 1965. It received five Academy Awards, including Best Picture.
