Casting has been announced for the upcoming Menier Chocolate Factory production of The Invisible Man, directed by Ian Talbot. Maria Friedman leads the cast, which also includes Natalie Casey, John Gordon Sinclair and Gary Wilmot with Michael Beckley, Gerard Carey, Geraldine Fitzgerald, Christopher Godwin, Teddy Kempner and Jo Stone-Fewings.The Invisible Man will begin previews November 13, with a press night on November 24.
Three-time Olivier Award winner Maria Friedman has most recently been seen on stage in The King and I and the Sondheim Prom, both at London’s Royal Albert Hall. A West End regular, her many roles include Mother in Ragtime, Roxie Hart in Chicago, Mrs. Lovett in Sweeney Todd and Marian in The Woman in White, a role she also played on Broadway.
Ken Hill’s adaptation of the classic H.G. Wells tale is retold in a the manner of a music hall spectacular, packed with humor and jaw-dropping illusions. Set in the rustic village of Iping, the local inhabitants recount the mysterious happenings the week that Griffin arrived, wrapped in bandages and distinctly sinister.
