Mamie Gummer, fiance of Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson star Benjamin Walker (and daughter of Meryl Streep), was coy when asked by Broadway.com what brought her to the opening night of the new rock hit. “I’ve seen this picture of this really gorgeous behind in all of the subways,” she responded. “So I thought I’d come and check it out.”
Certainly Gummer isn’t the only one who’s enjoyed the hot campaign for the Broadway musical from ad agency SpotCo, which features the backside of a man in jeans, with an American flag tucked into his pocket and a holster and gun draped over his hip. And the tagline? “History Just Got All Sexypants.”
But is that the “behind” of Gummer’s other half Walker, who rules the stage of the Bernard Jacobs Theatre as our nation’s seventh president eight times a week? We searched for the answer by going straight to the source at the opening night party.
“I don’t remember posing for that picture,” Walker laughed. “But there are so many pictures of my ass on the Internet these days that there’s no way of knowing!”
Either way, Walker was sure of one thing: “It’s not a bad-looking ass.”
