Broadway veteran Neil Patrick Harris tweeted news that he is now the proud father of twins with partner David Burtka. As previously announced, the couple were expecting children via a surrogate. The men are now proud fathers of a baby boy and girl and have named the children Gideon Scott and Harper Grace. The twins were born on October 12.
"Babies!! On 10/12, Gideon Scott and Harper Grace entered the Burtka-Harris fold," Harris wrote. "All of us are happy, healthy, tired and a little pukey."
Harris’ Broadway credits include Cabaret, Proof and Assassins. A three-time 2010 Emmy Award nominee, he is best known for TV roles including Barney on How I Met Your Mother, Billy in Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog and the title star in Doogie Howser, M.D.. Film credits include Starship Troopers, The Proposition, Undercover Brother, Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle and Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. The host of the 2009 Tony Awards, Harris also recently branched into directing, helming this summer’s Hollywood Bowl production of Pulitzer Prize-winning hit Rent. Burtka appeared on Broadway in the 2003 revival of Gypsy. His screen credits include The West Wing, Crossing Jordan, Open House, Worldly Possession, Army Guy, CSI: NY and How I Met Your Mother.
