Original Rent stars Anthony Rapp and Adam Pascal are joining forces for a one-night concert event at Town Hall in New York City on January 10, 2011. The stars will share stories and music from Rent along with performances of pop, rock and original songs. Selections from the musicals Cabaret and Chess will be included, as well as new arrangements of musical theater classics "Maria," "Not a Day Goes By" and "What I Did for Love."
Jonathan Larson’s Rent was a breakout show for both Pascal and Rapp; Pascal starred as HIV-positive rock guitarist Roger Davis and Rapp as filmmaker Mark Cohen. In 2005, both men reprised their roles in the movie version of the musical, and then returned to the Broadway production for a six-week run on July 30, 2007. In 2009, they reprised their roles one last time in Rent the Broadway Tour, which traveled all over the U.S. as well as Japan and South Korea.
Pascal has also appeared on Broadway in Elton John and Tim Rice’s Aida, in which he created the role of Radames, and the Broadway revival of Cabaret. He also starred alongside Josh Groban and Rent co-star Idina Menzel in Chess for two sold out performances at the Royal Albert Hall in London.
Rapp’s other Broadway credits include Six Degrees of Separation and You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown. He has recently been working on a production of Without You, a solo show based on his memoirs concerning Rent, the death of Jonathan Larson and the death of his mother, which was recently presented at Joe’s Pub and the New York Musical Theatre Festival.
Rapp and Pascal's Town Hall concert is being presented by Feinstein's at Loews Regency and RJ Productions.
