British import Brief Encounter, currently charming audiences at Roundabout Theatre’s Studio 54, has been extended by four weeks. The show, originally scheduled to close December 5, will now run through January 2, 2011.
A multimedia reimagining of Noel Coward’s screenplay of the same title, Brief Encounter chronicles the romantic journey of an unhappily married woman and the handsome doctor who falls for her when the pair meet unexpectedly in a train station coffee shop, using live music, song, dance, film tricks and inventive staging to bring the movie to life.
The cast of Brief Encounter, directed by Emma Rice, includes Joseph Alessi, Dorothy Atkinson, Damon Daunno, Gabriel Ebert, Edward Jay, Annette McLaughlin and Adam Pleeth, with Tristan Sturrock and Hannah Yelland in the roles of star-crossed lovers Alec and Laura.
