Opera star and Broadway vet David Pittsinger will join Carmen Cusack in the forthcoming holiday engagement of South Pacific’s national tour at the Kennedy Center Opera House. Bartlett Sher’s production is set to run December 14-January 16, 2011.
Pittsinger will reprise his performance as Emile de Becque opposite Cusack, a former Wicked tour Elphaba who’s been on the road for a year as Ensign Nellie Forbush. The cast also includes Anderson Davis (Lt. Cable), Timothy Gulan (Luther Billis), Jodi Kimura (Bloody Mary), Gerry Becker (Capt. Brackett), Peter Rini (Cmdr. Harbison), Sumie Maeda (Liat), Rusty Ross (Professor), Genson Blimline (Stewpot), Christina Carrera (Ngana) and CJ Palma (Jerome).
The ensemble will include Christopher Carl, Christian Carter, Eric L. Christian, Jacqueline Colmer, Alexis G.B. Holt, Rashaan James II, Chad Jennings, Christopher Johnstone, Kristie Kerwin, Joe Langworth, Cathy Newman, Julia Osborne, Diane Phelan, John Pinto Jr., Bret Shuford, Kristen J. Smith, Matt Stokes, Gregory Williams, Victor J. Wisehart and Amos Wolff.
Lincoln Center Theater’s revival of South Pacific won seven 2008 Tony Awards, including Best Musical Revival. The production completed a two-and-a-half-year run at the Vivian Beaumont Theater on August 22, 2010, and was featured on Live at Lincoln Center.
