Jennifer Jason Leigh will join Ben Stiller and Edie Falco in the previously announced Broadway revival of John Guare's 1986 Tony-winning play The House of Blue Leaves, according to a production spokesperson. The show, directed by David Cromer, will begin performances at the Walter Kerr Theatre on April 4 and open on April 25, 2011.
Leigh has previously appeared on Broadway in Proof and Cabaret. She appeared off-Broadway in Abigail's Party and Sunshine. Her many film credits include Greenberg, Single White Female, Fast Times at Ridgemont High, Margot at the Wedding, The Jacket, The Machinist, The Road to Perdition, The Anniversary Party and Dolores Claiborne.
Centered on the Pope's 1965 visit to New York City, The House of Blue Leaves follows Artie Shaughnessy (Stiller), a zookeeper who dreams of being a big-time songwriter, whose middle-class Queens existence is filled with colorful characters including his schizophrenic stay-at-home wife Bananas (Falco), his vivacious mistress Bunny (Leigh) and an AWOL son with dreams of his own.
