Teal Wicks will be Broadway’s newest green girl when she steps into the role of Elphaba in Wicked on February 1, 2011, and former Broadway.com video blogger Kyle Dean Massey will take on the role of Fiyero beginning January 25. Wicks and Massey are taking over the roles currently played by Mandy Gonzalez and Andy Karl, respectively.
Wicks has appeared in both the San Francisco and Los Angeles productions of Wicked, as well as the national tour of Pippin, the NY City Center Encores production of Stairway to Paradise, the New York premiere of Fahrenheit 451, the world premiere of Turandot, Rumble for the Ring at Bay Street Theatre, and 1776 and Pippin at the Goodspeed Opera House. She is currently appearing in the American Repertory Theatre production of The Blue Flower.
Massey is currently starring as Gabe in the Broadway production of Next to Normal, which is scheduled to close on January 16. Other Broadway credits include Xanadu and Wicked (Fiyero u/s), and he has been seen off-Broadway in Altar Boyz.
Wicks and Massey join a cast which includes Katie Rose Clarke as Glinda, Kathy Fitzgerald as Madame Morrible, P.J. Benjamin as the Wizard, Jenny Fellner as Nessarose, Etai BenShlomo as Boq and Tom Flynn as Dr. Dillamond.
