James Moye will step into the role of Sun Records producer Sam Phillips in Broadway's rockabilly musical Million Dollar Quartet beginning December 21. Moye, who has been understudying the role, is temporarily taking over for Hunter Foster while he takes a leave of absence. No timetable has been announced regarding how long Foster will be out of the show.
Moye’s New York stage credits include the recent Broadway revival of Ragtime, A Tale of Two Cities, The Full Monty, Urinetown and Happiness.
The Broadway production of Million Dollar Quartet opened at the Nederlander Theatre on April 11, 2010, starring Eddie Clendening as Elvis Presley, Lance Guest as Johnny Cash, Tony Award winner Levi Kreis as Jerry Lee Lewis and Rob Lyons as Carl Perkins, all of whom originated their roles in the show's acclaimed Chicago production.
