Broadway vet Lewis Cleale will join the cast of The Book of Mormon when the new musical from South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone and Avenue Q composer Robert Lopez hits Broadway beginning February 24, 2011. Opening night is set for March 24 at the Eugene O'Neill Theatre. The show will feature choreography by Casey Nicholaw and direction by Nicholaw and Parker.
Cleale has appeared on Broadway in Spamalot, Amour, Once Upon a Mattress and Swinging on a Star. His off-Broadway credits include The Fantasticks and Time and Again.
As previously announced Josh Gad and Andrew Rannells will star as Elders Cunningham and Price, a pair of mismatched Mormon missionaries sent to a land far from their comfort zone. The cast will also include Nikki M. James as Nabalungi, Rory O’Malley as Elder McKinley and Michael Potts as Mafala Hatimbi.No character information for Cleale's role in The Book of Mormon has been announced.
