As the curtain goes down on 2010, Broadway.com is looking ahead to the new year. We’ve asked the brightest stars on Broadway to reflect on their personal highlights from the past year and to reveal their hopes for 2011. Check out what they had to say, and have a Happy New Year!
HUGH PANARO (The Phantom in The Phantom of the Opera)
Highlight of 2010: My highlight occurred a few weeks ago. I had just finished a performance, gotten out of the Phantom “face” and was in the shower when I heard my makeup artist, Thelma Pollard, loudly saying, “NO, you can't go in there! He's in the shower!” I saw a shaft of light as the bathroom door opened and heard a strangely familiar voice say, “Get the f#ck out here!” at which point the owner of that voice opened the shower door and there was…Cloris Leachman!! We had done Hal Prince’s Show Boat together years ago. I was so surprised and happy to see her, it didn't matter that all I was wearing was a huge smile! I gave her a big soapy kiss and we had a great time catching up.”
Resolution for 2011: “To take more showers with famous people!”
