Hairspray star Nikki Blonsky is set to make her off-Broadway debut in Nora and Delia Ephron’s Love, Loss and What I Wore. Blonsky joins previously announced stars Alexis Bledel, Judy Gold, Anita Gillette and Pauletta Washington for performances beginning on January 12, 2011 at the Westside Theatre.
In addition to starring as Tracy Turnblad in the movie musical remake of Hairspray, Blonsky starred as Willamena Rader on the ABC Family series Huge. Her other television and film credits include Waiting For Forever, Harold, Ugly Betty and Queen Sized. In 2008, she made her nightclub debut at Feinstein’s in her one-woman show entitled “Coming Home.”
Love, Loss, and What I Wore, a collection of vignettes and monologues, is based on the best-selling book by Ilene Beckerman, as well as on the recollections of the Ephrons’ friends. Like the popular book, Love, Loss, And What I Wore uses clothing and accessories and the memories they trigger to tell funny and often poignant stories that all women can relate to. A portion of the production’s proceeds will benefit Dress for Success, a charity that provides work clothing and job support for low-income women. Audience members will be invited to donate their gently-used purses and other accessories in the theater lobby.
The January cast of Love, Loss and What I Wore will perform through February 13, 2011.
