Tony winner Norbert Leo Butz and his actress wife, Michelle Federer, welcomed baby daughter Georgia Teresa to the world on January 2, 2011. The couple, who married in 2007, met while co-starring in the original Broadway cast of Wicked (he as Fiyero and she as Nessarose). Butz revealed that his new munchkin “weighs 6 lb, 11 oz, stands 19 1/2 inches (without heels).”
Butz will have his hands full this spring: The proud papa will star as Agent Carl Hanratty in the forthcoming Broadway musical adaptation of Catch Me If You Can, which begins performances at the Neil Simon Theatre on March 7. Most recently seen on Broadway in Enron, Butz won a Tony for his star turn as Freddy Benson in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels and has appeared on Broadway in Speed the Plow, Is He Dead?, Thou Shalt Not and Rent.
Federer has appeared off-Broadway in A Man of No Importance, Boys’ Life, Anon and In the Absence of Spring.
Georgia joins half sisters Clara and Maggie, Butz's daughters from an earlier marriage.
