In the spring on 1987, James Earl Jones and Courtney B. Vance teamed up as father and son in the unforgettable Broadway premiere of August Wilson’s Fences. (Jones won the Best Actor Tony Award; Vance was nominated in the Featured Actor category.) Almost 23 years later, the former co-stars and Vance’s actress wife, Angela Bassett, had a happy backstage reunion at the Golden Theatre, where Jones is winning raves as chauffeur Hoke Coleburn in Driving Miss Daisy.
