Contradictory reports are emerging regarding a forthcoming episode of Glee centering on the songs of Justin Bieber and the formation of a boy band at McKinley High School. Show creator Ryan Murphy denied the report to Entertainment Weekly, but a set source told Deadline.com that the episode of February 15 will feature a storyline about Sam (played by newcomer Chord Overstreet, who sports a Bieber-like shag cut) starting a band and singing three Bieber songs.
“Those [episodes] are reserved for artists with big catalogs,” Murphy told EW. “Bieber comes up in episode 13 as a small plot point. Sam sings a JB song to win Quinn’s approval.” The timing of a Bieber episode would coincide with the release of Never Say Never, a biographical film about the 16-year-old pop star.
Glee returns to Fox on February 6 after the 2011 Super Bowl.
