Carina Gillespie will make her West End debut as Sandy opposite Matthew Goodgame as Danny in the London revival of Grease. Gillespie is due to join the production on January 24, and Goodgame has signed on to continue as Danny until April 30, when the show will close and embark on a national tour.
In addition to Gillespie and Goodgame, the cast from January 24 to closing night will include David O’Reilly (Roger), Michael Pickering (Doody), Zoe Doano (Frenchy), Matthew Russell-Jones (Eugene), Nancy Hill (Miss Lynch) and Kristina MacMillan (Cha Cha), joining continuing cast members Jamie Capewell (Kenickie), Siubhan Harrison (Rizzo), Bennett Andrews (Sonny), Robyn Mellor (Marty), Susannah Allman (Patty), Kerry Winter (Jan) and Jason Capewell (Teen Angel/Vince Fontaine).
Gillespie toured in Buddy and appeared at the Edinburgh Festival in Bloodbath–The Musical. She is also a recording artist and has danced in numerous music videos.
Grease opened at the Piccadilly on July 25, 2007, and is now the longest running production in the venue’s history. The national tour will open at the Edinburgh Playhouse on May 6 before stops in Milton Keynes, Bradford, Southampton, Oxford, Cardiff, Dublin, Torquay, Manchester and Birmingham.
