As American Idol kicked off its 10th season on January 19, scads of singing hopefuls showed up for the New Jersey-based initial audition round. While 25 year-old Ashley Sullivan introduced herself by gushing about her love of Britney Spears, the Massachusetts gal soon switched her focus to Broadway leading lady Sutton Foster. For her audition song, the ambitious Sullivan broke out "Gimme Gimme" from the Tony-winning musical Thoroughly Modern Millie. While new judges Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez seemed impressed by her vocal chops, they weren't quite sure if she was the right fit for Idol...which led Sullivan to some hilarious pleading antics.
