It’s been the longest running show on Broadway for more than four years, but the milestones keep piling up for The Phantom of the Opera. The mega-musical celebrated its 23rd anniversary at the January 26 matinee performance before a cheering snow-day crowd at the Majestic Theatre. After the curtain call, a huge “23” cake was wheeled onstage, and title star Hugh Panaro introduced a very special guest: the show’s legendary director, Harold Prince!
