The West End production of Love Story, which has been running at the Duchess Theatre since November 26, 2010, will play its final performance on February 26. The musical began life at the Chichester Festival Theatre before transferring to the London stage, and producers say they will announce a UK tour shortly as well as further productions to be staged worldwide.
Love Story brings Erich Segal’s best-selling novel of mismatched affection to the musical stage. The show tells the story of Oliver Barrett IV, a rich Harvard alum with an affinity for sports, and Jenny Cavilleri, a poor musician. The book and 1970 feature film starring Ali MacGraw and Ryan O'Neal immortalized Segal's line, "Love means never having to say you're sorry."
Emma Williams and Michael Xavier play Jenny and Oliver in the stage version of Love Story, joined by Peter Polycarpou, Richard Cordery, Jan Hartley, Gary Milner, Paul Kemble, Julie Stark and ensemble members Lillie Flynn, Christopher Killik, Jamie Muscato and Rebecca Trehearn. Love Story is directed by Rachel Kavanaugh with music by Howard Goodall, book by Stephen Clark and lyrics by Clark and Goodall.
