Broadway vets Rebecca Luker and Howard McGillin will co-star in Where’s Charley?, the final production of the 2010-2011 season at New York City Center’s Encores! The musical will run March 17-20, directed by Tony winner John Doyle (Sweeney Todd, Company).
Where’s Charley? is George Abbott’s musical adaptation of the classic farce Charley’s Aunt, featuring the first score by Frank Loesser and including hits such as “Once in Love With Amy,” “My Darling, My Darling” and “The New Ashmolean Marching Song.” Abbott’s production opened at the St. James Theatre on October 11, 1948, starring Tony winner Ray Bolger, and played 792 performances.
A three-time Tony nominee for Mary Poppins, The Music Man and Show Boat, Luker has also appeared on Broadway in Nine, The Sound of Music, The Phantom of the Opera and The Secret Garden.
A two-time Tony nominee for Anything Goes and The Mystery of Edwin Drood, McGillin enjoyed a long run in the title role of The Phantom of the Opera. Other Broadway credits include She Loves Me, Kiss of the Spider Woman and The Secret Garden.
The Encores! production of Where’s Charley? will be choreographed by Alex Sanchez and feature musical direction by Rob Berman.
