Valentine’s Day is almost here, and Broadway.com reached out to some of the most romantic people we know—Broadway stars—to get the scoop on heart-melting gifts, swoon-worthy tunes and more.
VICTORIA CLARK (Mother Superior in Sister Act)
What Broadway show tune makes you swoon and why?
You know the song that is stuck in my head this week is "I'll Be Seeing You," by Sammy Fain and Irving Kahal. It ended up in a Broadway show called Right This Way, but it really took off when Bing Crosby recorded it in 1944. The images are so iconic and the melody is haunting. Everyone can think of that wishing well, the carousel, the park across the way where we walked with that person who changed our lives forever. It is a bittersweet love song, and not so obvious--my favorite!
What are the ingredients for a perfect Valentine’s Day?
Food, (chocolate, corn products and cheese being at the very top of my list) rest, laughter, and of course the naughty bits!
What character from any Broadway show could you fall in love with and why?
Dracula? He would be a charming Valentine, up to a point. I don't know. I like the unlikely heroes, like Valere, Mark Rylance's character from La Bete. But maybe I am just in love with Mark Rylance!
Name a Valentine’s Day gift that would win your heart.
A NEW CAR!!!! OR any car for that matter; I am not picky.
