Illusionist Derren Brown Brings his ‘Mind-Melting’ Svengali to London’s West End

Illusionist Derren Brown is bringing his unique brand of theater to London’s West End with his new show Svengali. The piece, which was written by Brown and Iain Sharkey with Stephen Long and is directed by Polly Findlay, begins performances at the Shaftesbury Theatre on June 8 and open on June 13.

With Svengali, Brown promises "an evening of mind-melting based around audience participation." He is best known for his TV shows Derren Brown: Mind Control, which was broadcast on the Sci-Fi Channel in America, as well as U.K. hits Trick of the Mind, Trick or Treat and The Events. His bestselling books include Tricks of the Mind and Confessions of a Conjuror.

Svengali features set and costume designs by Will Bowen, lighting by Matt Eagland and sound by Colin Pink. Prior to London, it will play a 73-date U.K. tour. The show will end its limited West End engagement on July 16, 2011.
