Tony Award winner Laura Benanti will take on a leading role in the upcoming NBC pilot Playboy, according to Deadline.com. She will play Carol-Lynne, a 30-year-old star of the Playboy Club in 1963 Chicago who realizes her days are numbered as one of the hotspot's beauties. The project was developed by 20th TV/Imagine TV.
Benanti won a Tony Award for her role as Louise in the hit revival of Gypsy and most recently received rave reviews for her work in the Broadway musical Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown. Other Broadway credits include The Sound of Music, Swing! Into the Woods, Nine, The Violet Hour, The Wedding Singer and In the Next Room.
