A slew of familiar Broadway faces may be popping up on television later this year. Tony winners Katie Finneran, Julie White and Dan Fogler and Tony nominee Christian Borle have all landed roles on upcoming TV projects, according to Deadline.com.
Finneran, who picked up her second Tony Award last season for Promises, Promises, will play Nikki, one of the two leads on the Fox comedy I Hate My Teenage Daughter. The show follows two women who now have teenage daughters that act just like the bratty girls who bullied them in high school. This marks a return to Fox for Finneran who previously co-starred on the network's The Inside and Wonderfalls.
White will play an overbearing mother in the ABC comedy pilot Smothered. The series follows a young couple dealing with their very different sets of parents. White received a Tony Award for The Little Dog Laughed. Her other TV and film credits include Grace Under Fire, Damages and the Transformers trilogy.
Fogler has been tapped to play the brother-in-law to a happily married man in the ABC comedy pilot, Man Up. Fogler is a Tony winner for The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. He will also appear in the upcoming films Take Me Home Tonight and Mars Needs Moms.
Borle, who is currently appearing in off-Broadway's Peter and the Starcatcher, will take on the male lead role opposite previously announced star Debra Messing in NBC's new Broadway-centric pilot, Smash. Borle will play Tom, a composer who teams with lyricist Julia (Messing) to pen a musical about the life of Marilyn Monroe (played by another Broadway vet, Megan Hilty). Borle received a Tony nomination for Legally Blonde.
