Now that Jimmy Fallon and SNL’s Bill Hader have given us their best Charlie Sheen impressions, theater fans have chosen the ideal star for a stage version of the talkative actor’s colorful life story. And the winner of Broadway.com’s weekend poll is… Roger Bart! Yes, the funnyman who nabbed a Tony for playing Snoopy in You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown and was nominated for playing Carmen Ghia in The Producers before starring as Dr. Frederick Frankenstein in Young Frankenstein led the field of 12 potential Charlies with 19% of the vote.
Second place went to another stage favorite, Marc Kudisch, with 13% of the vote. In a three-way tie for third place were Norbert Leo Butz, Raul Esparza and Brian d’Arcy James, all of whom pulled in 10% of the vote.
With casting set, all Bart needs is a playwright to pull Sheen’s tweets, talk-show tidbits and tirades into a workable script. Paging David Mamet!
