All New People, a new play from actor and screenwriter Zach Braff, will premiere this summer at off-Broadway’s Second Stage Theatre, where Braff recently starred opposite Sutton Foster, Bobby Cannavale and Ari Graynor in the dark comedy Trust. Peter DuBois, who helmed Trust, will direct the piece, set to begin previews on June 28.
In All New People, it’s the dead of winter and the summer vacation getaway of Long Beach Island, New Jersey is desolate and blanketed in snow. Charlie is 35, heartbroken and just wants some time away from the rest of the world. The island ghost town seems to be the perfect escape until his solitude is interrupted by a motley parade of misfits who show up and change his plans. A hired beauty, the townie fireman, and an eccentric British real estate agent desperately trying to stay in the country suddenly find themselves tangled together in a beach house where the mood is anything but sunny.
Braff is perhaps best known for his starring role in the television series Scrubs and as the writer, director and star of hit indie film Garden State. In addition to his role in Trust at Second Stage, his stage experience includes roles in the Public Theater productions of Twelfth Night and Macbeth. His film credits include The Broken Hearts Club, Getting To Know You, Manhattan Murder Mystery, The Last Kiss, The Ex. and the upcoming High Cost Of Living.
Casting, a design team and an official opening night have yet to be announced for All New People.
