Tony Award winner Lin-Manuel Miranda is headed to the small screen for a guest spot on an upcoming episode of Modern Family, according to tvguide.com. Actress Sofia Vergara, who plays Gloria on the hit sitcom, told the site that Miranda will appear later this season as the inventor of an innovative dog-training technique whom Gloria brings home to meet Jay (Ed O'Neill).
Miranda is the creator and original star of Broadway hit In the Heights; he won the 2008 Tony Award for Best Score and earned a Best Actor in a Musical nomination for his role as Usnavi. His new musical Bring It On, which he co-wrote with Tom Kitt, Amanda Green and Jeff Whitty, recently debuted at the Alliance Theatre in Atlanta. His previous TV credits include appearances on House, M.D., The Sopranos and The Electric Company.
In addition to Vergara and O'Neill, Modern Family stars Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Eric Stonestreet, Ty Burrell, Julie Bowen and Sarah Hyland.
