Original American Idiot star Joshua Henry will return to the role of Favorite Son on March 15 at the St. James Theatre. David Larsen will also join the cast as Tunny, replacing Stark Sands who played his final performance on March 13. P.J. Griffith will take over the role of St. Jimmy for a limited engagement through March 20.
Henry's Broadway credits include The Scottsboro Boys and In the Heights. His off-Broadway work includes Shafrika, The White Girl. Larsen has previously appeared on Broadway in Billy Elliot and Good Vibrations. His TV credits include Boston Public and Touched By An Angel. Griffith is the lead singer of Blue Movie. He has appeared in the Los Angeles productions of The Who's Tommy and Parade. His TV credits include Without a Trace and House.
Directed by Michael Mayer and featuring music from the Green Day album of the same name, American Idiot opened on Broadway on April 20, 2010. The musical currently stars Van Hughes as Johnny, Justin Guarini as Will, Rebecca Naomi Jones as Whatsername, Libby Winters as The Extraordinary Girl and Jeanna de Waal as Heather. Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong will return to the production as St. Jimmy on April 5. The show will play its final performance on April 24.
