Two-time Tony Award winner Cherry Jones has been cast in REM, an NBC-TV pilot described as an Inception-like thriller, according to Deadline.com. Jones will play Dr. Stephanie Evans, a therapist treating a detective (Jason Isaacs) who finds himself living in two different realities.
Jones, who most recently appeared on Broadway in the fall 2010 revival of Mrs. Warren’s Profession, is a Best Actress Tony winner for The Heiress and Doubt. She was tapped for REM by executive producer Howard Gordon, who cast her in 24 as U.S. President Allison Taylor, a role that earned Jones an Emmy Award. The pilot is being produced by 20th Century Fox TV.
REM centers on Detective Michael Britten (Isaacs), who wakes up after an accident to find he is living in two different realities, one in which he has killed his son (Dylan Minnette) and one in which he has killed his wife (Laura Allen) in a car accident. The cast also includes Wilmer Valderrama and Michaela McManus.
